Getting dressed as a 60’s girl
From what I know about girls, their favorite occasion to dress up is to go out with their girl friends.
It’s not only about looking fabulous together to have a fun time, but also about spending hours chatting away getting ready finalising our dress, hair volumised, face painted and nails painted. Here I give you a wee peek of the fab time we had to achieve a sensual, early ’60s sophisticated look. We love the American TV show Mad Men’s 60′s polished look, so were thinking of fashion icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy and Joan in Mad Men. A great dress to make us feel most feminine is the key, here are the 3 choices Anna had:
Choice 1-All black, chic and body hugging with interesting drape details, maybe…
Choice 2: Retro polka dot lace on the shoulder and arms, simple fit around the torso area, cute little peter pan collar tied with ribbon. the cutout section will best show off your cleavage, imaging pairing it with scarlet lipstick and a Jackie O bouffant. Maybe…
Ok, we actually decided on this lucky number from Zara, it has a full skirt and nice triangle cut around the neck and shoulders with an intresting scenary print.
Now its time for the makeup and hair, foundation, concealer, powder, use everything to achieve the flawless base. On the eyes, clean liquid eyeliner with a flirty flick at the corner, add on fake eyelashes if you like. On the lip, pinks oranges reds, any shade you prefer. For hair, wash blow-dry, roll up and pin, set with lots of hairspray.
Final check of everything. nice curtain.
We did it! Anna looks every inch the part as a 60′s girl.
The pretty lace gloves are from her grandmother, they have this tiny bow details which is so adorable.
My look: A bit of a backcomb for my hair, liquid eye liner, A-line cream coat with pretty floral and pearl embelishment, One of my fav shoes from Vivienne Westwood, finished with a statement pearl necklace. I tried on a few different bags but decide to take this large one to fit all my stuff in, especially my camera. I quite like the casual feel of this bag which makes the whole outfit have a bit more of a laid back feel.
Inside, Top from Mango, polka dot pencil skirt from River Island.
They were bought from a sale and I love the skull bow details, It is a very lovely shade of cream as well which goes with lots of summery looks.
We did spend the whole afternoon but the results are great. Its all worth it! Now we eventually make it outside.
Finally,,, in the taxi. from left to right: Anna, me, Ellen. So you can see, I actually decided to change my hairstyle from a ponytail to a wee twisted up dos at the last minute, Thank you very much Ellen for re-doing my hair. She has so many ideas about what to do with hair and technically great as well, not like me. I am just not talented enough at styling hair. She was so nice that all her time was spend on fixing my hair but never had a chance to finish her own properly, This is why she looked a bit worried there but off course with her professional hair styling skills, she finished off in the taxi without a mirror. She is now my idol!
Ellen looked every inch the sophisticated lady.
The cigarette pose? Breakfast at Tiffiney’s
Do they not just look like a cast from a TV show? Could be in Mad Men.
Sexy Laura!

What happened when we had a few drinks …
Look: Tyra Bank
Look: I can not remember the theme, sorry. It supposed to be inspired by a great novel, What novel? Well, I can not really remember, it is about a man and his two women, Maggi acts as the desirable man, Anna the wife, and then the mistress.
