Discover 19th century Victorian fashion at National Museum of Costume
A little of the history about the Shambellie House: The house was designed by the scottish architect David Bryce and built in 1856 fro the Stewart family.
In 1977 Charles Stewart, the great grandson of original owner, gave the house and his unique dress collection to National Museums Scotland.

The inside of the house is devided into quite a few medium sized rooms with gorgeous wallpapers and glamorous detailing.
The 19th century Victorian fashion is displayed on the ground floor. Walking into the room, I felled as if been transformed by doctor who’s time machine. The excessive style and detailing combined with the highly defined silhouette just so feminine and controlled. They have a strong sense of pride and prejudice.
This cuirasse bodice and tail shaped bussel would be worn inside this tailored long-line jacket to create the perfect feminine shape or to promote a larger behind, now we have resorted to bum implants for the same effect. but seriously, how do women sit in those days?
More of the splendid era:
Love the trim detail of the bodice and the shape of the collar
Imagine the amount of labour-hours and the craftsmanship dedicated into those dresses.
A riding suit. Don’t think this jacket would look out of place displayed in the high street window.
OK, to look this good, it got to be a mission and half. Plenty of battles to be fought with corsage.
Trying to fit this corsage on me properly, I was exhausted and would fainted at no time soon if having it on a bit longer.

Finally having it on. ;-(
